My name is Malene Hold, I’m 25 years old and originally from Denmark. I studied an undergrad in Intercultural Marketing Communication at Copenhagen Business School, and decided to pursue a Master’s Degree at New York University. I recently finished my first year at NYU where I’m studying a MS in Integrated Marketing. I chose NYU because it is in the heart of the capital of media, marketing, and communication. This leaves great opportunities for internships, the possibility to build a strong network, and you get to learn from some of the most experienced professors in the world. In my leisure time, I love creating content on my social media platforms. I’m a heavy user of TikTok, where I love to share everyday snippets of my life here in New York, how it is to study at NYU, and the cultural differences. Since I came to the U.S. last year, I’ve grown my TikTok into almost 50,000 followers - and I’m excited to see where it can go! Updated 1/25/24

I am an international student from Bangladesh. I came to NYC in 2021 to pursue a Bachelor's degree in both mathematics and computer science in St. Joseph's University, Brooklyn. I chose this college because of the generous scholarship and the small classroom size. I am also part of the Honors program. Apart from studying I have been involved in different extracurricular activities -- Treasurer of Student Government (2021), President of the Computer Club (2022), Organization Committee of PyData NYC etc. However, I do not live and breathe math or coding languages; I love watching movies and reading books. If you want to have a quick conversation with me, always start with movies, or better yet, start with how much you love Harry Potter! I grew up in Bombay, India, and attended school and completed junior college before moving to Fort Worth, TX for my undergraduate education majoring in mechanical engineering. My sister also attended TCU and having visited the university before gave me a sense of familiarity. Additionally, speaking with the faculty, and learning about the program was one of my major reasons to attend TCU. The smaller class size made me feel like more than just a student ID number. Along with my academics, I was president of a South Asian organization as well as a Robotics club in the engineering department. We hosted multiple cultural and academic events to spread cultural awareness and give students the opportunity to explore their academic interests. I also worked a number of on-campus jobs in the engineering, housing, and student success departments to gain experience in different fields and take care of personal finances. Updated 10/31/23

I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. I study Biomedical Engineering (master's) with a focus on modeling and AI. For my thesis, I am developing an AI algorithm to predict how blood will flow inside vessels with abnormalities and inside the ventricles in the heart. I chose Florida Tech because the biomedical engineering program was recommended to me. Its diverse international population and the small size of the campus make it easy to participate in a research lab. My expectation with that regard has been met because I have been part of three different research groups, spanning from creating chemical substances to absorb toxins and store molecules, imaging and synthesizing hydrogels for tendon replacement, and developing AI algorithms for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, my favorite! At Florida Tech I had the opportunity to be super involved through my years here. As soon as I came to campus I joined the Latin American student association. I learned how to dance salsa, merengue and bachata with them! I made so many friends with whom I shared large parts of my culture, even people from the same city! I ended up joining their dance group for the next three years and participating in Florida Tech's annual international festival, where we put together choreographies for all campus to watch. I grew a bit older and experienced in the organization so after a couple years I went from being the person who was learning how to dance to the instructor that put together the routine. I was born in Luxembourg from Italian parents in 1999, then because of my dad's job we moved to Milan when I was 2 years old. Growing up, at the age of 7 years old, I was selected to join the ACMilan academy, one of the best soccer academies in Europe. I've been playing there for 10 years to then move around pursuing my professional career, I lived in Bari, Florence, Como, Civitanova, to then come back to Milan. My academic education was quite complicated because I had to change several High Schools and Universities in order to be able to stay on the top of it. Besides my soccer career and the academics, I started also working on my personal image on social media, and now I count around 500k followers across TikTok, Facebook and Instagram by delivering soccer educational type of content. Since I started working with social media, I have loved it and I studied and learned a lot about that world, and I found out I was good at it! For this reason, I decided, along with my brother, to open an LLC here in Miami to provide social media services to brands, and nowadays we partnered with 20+ brands all over the world! I grew up in Prague, Czech Republic in a multi-cultural household (my mother is Czech, my father is Palestinian), so I was always surrounded by a lot of different traditions, cultures, and languages. I attended international school since I was a child (english preschool, high school, and undergrad) where I was able to meet even more people from different backgrounds which expanded my world views as well. For my undergrad I studied Journalism and Communications which helped me hone my storytelling and writing skills, as well as photography, videography and hosting a radio show. I would consider myself a very creative person, so this degree was perfect in channeling my creativity in a more practical setting. Currently I attend NYU doing my MS in Integrated Marketing. I chose this program because I worked as a copywriter in a marketing company in Prague and I liked the idea of Marketing and Advertising as a future career, however, I wanted to learn more about the analytical part of it and for that I knew I needed a good school. In my free time I’m a very active person - I play tennis, do various workout classes (yoga, pilates, barre), in Prague I also play golf. What I also love about NYC is that it’s a walk-able city, so no matter the weather I will always choose to walk wherever I need to go because it helps keep me active every day, and because it’s NYC there is always something new I see even if I take the same route. I also play piano (unfortunately not in NYC because it wouldn’t fit in my apartment) and sing so I love going to karaoke with my friends. I love to cook so we often have different culture-themed nights with my friends where we all cook together. Updated 10/31/23
